Message for 10th Anniversarry

Over the ten years since this small shop
in Nishi-Ogikubo first opened,
we have been fortunate to encounter many people
and connections through this place.
Among them, there are those who
have been especially close to this shop,
walking alongside us through the years.
Here, we share some of the warm words
we have received from them.

Akira Minagawa
( designer of minä perhonen )

When you told me that you wished to create a shop, the place that quietly came to mind was Nishi-Ogikubo. Not Aoyama, not Kichijoji — but Nishi-Ogikubo.
Your jewelry and accessories feel to me like small treasure boxes of memories, something that, each time one wears them, gently calls those memories back.
So I felt it should not be in a bustling center, but somewhere that takes a little time and intention to reach,a town with its own quiet air and deeply rooted atmosphere.
That was what I was thinking when I recommended Nishi-Ogikubo to you.
Congratulations on your 10th anniversary.

Minori Kai
( Writer / Essayist )

I fell in love at first sight with the way those delicate little circles gently connect.
How poetic it is, to know the motif comes from soap bubbles.
This piece has become a treasure I wear on my most special days.
Ryui’s designer, Yui Taira, is from Tanabe in Wakayama—a place I affectionately call my second hometown.
Someday, I would be delighted if we could create something together
that ties back to Tanabe.

Izumi Shiokawa
( Illustrator )

It has already been over 20 years since I first met Yui Taira, back when we were both attending a prep school for art university entrance exams.
Everyone called her “Kippei” (Kippei = Yui’s nickname),and she was loved by all.
Yet the world she created in her work was quite different from the gentle atmosphere she carried in daily life—it had its own distinct sense of wonder.
Almost as if it were a landscape seen through the eyes of an insect.
When I first came across Ryui’s jewelry,in the beautiful leaf veins, and the pistils and stamens hidden within flower petals,I quietly found the same Kippei I knew back then, and it made me secretly happy.
Congratulations on your 10th anniversary.

Congratulations on your 10th anniversary.
At the Nishi-Ogikubo store, we ordered the “Phase” marriage rings.
I love the unique yet timeless form, where square and round coexist, and the warm surface finish that feels almost as if
I had been wearing it for years from the very beginning.
We ordered different metals for each ring as a couple, and both blend beautifully into our own individual styles.
It feels like a piece we will continue to cherish for a very long time.

Natsumi Yanase
( Owner of the café “PEOPLE” )

Ryui has created two very important rings for me.
One is my wedding ring. The other is a ring remade from a ruby that was passed down to me by family.
Thank you for creating such beautiful rings that I will cherish for a lifetime.
I deeply respect Ryui’s work—not only for their designs, but also for their consistently thoughtful communication, both in person and by email.
Congratulations on your 10th anniversary!!

( Editor )

Congratulations on your 10th anniversary.
Our wedding rings “Plumage timeless” were chosen just before our marriage registration — right as the pandemic began, when so much felt uncertain.
We were drawn to the motif of a bird freely taking flight, and even now, the rings feel like a gentle pair of wings wrapping around us with warmth, supporting our family of three.
May your work continue to bring happiness to many people in the years to come.

Shingo Maeyama & Yuka

( Owner of “cotito” – flower, baked sweets & café )

Congratulations on your 10th anniversary!
Ryui’s beautiful, unique world of jewelry always makes my heart dance just by looking at it.
Wishing you continued growth and success in the years ahead.

Mira & Eero ( From Helsinki, Finland )

We had a truly wonderful experience finding our Ryui rings for our engagement. Initially, we spotted their popup event in Helsinki, where we were mesmerized by their unique and organic designs that resonated well with our northern taste. The only challenge was choosing from the abundance of great pieces! Later, we were lucky to visit the beautiful Ryui Nishi-Ogikubo shop and get to know Yui, who we now consider as our friend.
Wearing our rings feels deeply meaningful not only because of what they symbolize, but also because of the special journey we had in finding them. We are sincerely grateful for the kind and personal service we received with Ryui. The rings remind us each day of our love and life that keeps on giving.
Congratulations, Ryui, on this wonderful milestone. We wish you all the success and happiness for the years ahead! With love,

Each of the warm words we have received
feels as though it has supported our steps so far,
and gently illuminates the path ahead.

In the past, now, and in the days to come —
we will continue to cherish every connection,
and extend our heartfelt gratitude.
