In the grand, unceasing current
I am one moment’s tiny ripple on the surface
Appearing only to disappear
Disappearing only to reappear
The one proceeds from all
And all proceed from the one
A single moment in the flow of eternity
The world that already existed when I was born
Like a wave that softly forms and just as softly, disappears,
Life and all things exist.
One moment leads to the next moment
Connecting like a river
Flowing without ceasing, yet constantly changing its shape,
boldly existing.
The self, disappeared, is again scattered randomly
Next as a cat in some small town
Or as steaming rice in a bowl
Or perhaps even
as a stalactite in a cave no one has ever seen.
The self of someday is the you of some other day
All in the same flow.
One proceeds from all
And all proceeds from one.
A glitter on the surface of the water, with deep and powerful undulating waves
In the beauty of the twilight river disappearing from view with the sunlight,
I saw such a scene.
